The pressure was on for the Strictly Come Dancing finalists on Saturday night as they gave their all to be crowned 2022 champion. However, Hamza Yassin was left heartbroken after suffering a small mistake in his show dance which left fans fearing it had “cost him” the Glitterball Trophy.

Hamza and Jowita Przystal performed their show dance to Let’s Face The Music And Dance by Irving Berlin.

Wanting to show the judges his ballroom skills had improved, the couple elegantly glided across the ballroom to put in a last ditch attempt.

However, Hamza made a small mistake in the routine which left him visibly panicking, although he ended the performance with a spectacular lift.

The mistake didn’t go unnoticed by the judges or the viewers, as they took to Twitter to express their concerns.

Rebecca Louise complained: “That was pretty bland for a show stopper? #strictly #strictlycomedancing.”

Daniel Winfield added: “Stumble at the end and kinda boring. Watch it still get overmarked #Strictly.

“Lovely but too boring for a show dance. #strictly,” complained Andi McLellan.

Betty Redondo tweeted: “@HamzaYassin3 show dance: just seeing Hamza in hold – in a tux with his dreads flowing behind him just fills me with joy!

“It wasn’t perfect though – there was a mistake & his inward-turning feet came back. Shame #strictly.”

L claimed: “Hamza just cost himself the show. Helen has got this. #Strictly.” (sic)

Picking up on the small mistake, Shirley Ballas commented: “It was the first time I felt and saw a little panic. So it went wrong and it just took a few seconds to keep going.

“What I applaud you is that you were able to keep going and pick it up and hit that high lift at the end because that is not easy to do.”

Anton Du Beke praised the couple’s transitions in and out of the lifts.

Craig Revel Horwood added: “I thought it was a little bit rocky and underwhelming if I am being honest. I was just expecting a lot more and it did go a little bit wrong.”

Hamza broke down in tears when speaking to Claudia Winkleman and explained: “It was always going to be ballroom. It is the thing I love to do the most.”

Jowita touched on the moment and praised: “I just want to say I am so proud of you that you didn’t stop and you just continued and you made it happen, so proud.”

Hamza broke down in tears and apologised to his partner before she told him that he didn’t need to.

Craig and Shirley awarded their performance an eight, with Motsi and Anton giving them a nine, a total score of 33 out of a possible 40.

Touching on his experience, Hamza said: “Thank you for this amazing opportunity, for keeping us going through week on week.

“We thank you so much, we couldn’t have done it without you,” as Jowita added: “And honoured to be with the three amazing couples too.”
