Susanna Reid sends ‘huge love’ to Brenda Edwards following son Jamal Edwards’ death

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid has sent her love to her ITV co-star Brenda Edwards following the tragic death of her son Jamal Edwards.

After the sad news broke that music pioneer Jamal had passed away aged 31 and heartfelt tributes poured in, Susanna and her co-host Richard Madeley paid their respects.

Susanna, 51, spoke movingly as she sent her “huge love” to Jamal’s family, including Brenda, who is a panellist on Loose Women and sprung to fame on X Factor.

Susanna said: “Social media was awash with tributes last night. He was a hugely influential figure and obviously, we send our huge love to Brenda and to his family and to everyone affected.”

Richard, 65, was in agreement, adding: “Absolutely. 31 is terribly young.”

Other members of the GMB team also wanted to send their condolences to Brenda, 52, as they celebrated Jamal’s legacy and all the amazing work he’d done over the years.

The ITV show’s US correspondent Noel Phillips explained: “He was a pioneering figure in Black British culture and music in particular and hip hop, a trailblazer in fact.”

He also pointed out Jamal’s work in founding SBTV – a game-changing music channel that helped launch the career of artists like Ed Sheeran and Jessie J.

Noel continued: “This is a man who came up in a musical household and used that passion for music to give artists and so many young people a platform which they never had.”

This comes after Brenda’s Loose Women colleagues and close friends took to social media to pen their own tributes.

Fellow panellist Denise Welch wrote on Twitter: “My heart aches for my friend Brenda. I can’t bear it. Jamal Edwards was a wonderful son and brother.”

Anchor Ruth Langsford also shared a photo of Brenda and Jamal sitting side by side during an appearance on Loose Women on her Instagram account.

Alongside it, Ruth, 61, wrote: “My heart is breaking for my friend @brendaedwardsglobal after the loss of her amazing son Jamal yesterday.”

“I can only imagine her unbearable pain. Grief is the price we pay for love. The @loosewomen will wrap our arms around her and try to fill her with all the strength we have.”
