The acting career Moriah Plath had before Welcome to Plathville

Moriah Plath, the rebellious second-oldest daughter on Welcome to Plathville, dabbled in acting before she starred on the TLC series about her family.

Her parents probably aren’t happy about their daughter pursuing any work as an actress — which is how they seem to feel about everything else Moriah does. Plathville patriarch Barry Plath has said that Moriah is “wired differently,” and she’s been portrayed on the show as the black sheep of the family. In a heartbreaking clip from the first season of Welcome to Plathville, Moriah admitted: “I wish my mom would think more positively of me, but I try not to let it bother me.”

Moriah is a rebel in the Plathville world, but she would be considered an average teenager in any other family. All Moriah wants to do is go out on dates with boys, drink soda, use a mobile phone, wear shorts — pretty mild stuff in this day and age.

But Moriah isn’t the only rebellious child of Barry and Kim Plath. Welcome to Plathville’s Micah Plath is pursuing a career as a model. Moriah and Micah recently moved out on their own (or were kicked out), and did we mention Barry and Kim’s oldest son, Ethan Plath, and his wife, Olivia Plath, have cut off all contact with them?

We aren’t holding out much hope for the Plathville parents to gain self-awareness about their parenting, but we do hope you’ll keep reading to find out more about Moriah’s acting career before Welcome to Plathville.

Moriah Plath has many talents

Before becoming a star on TLC’s Welcome to Plathville, Moriah Plath starred in a short feature film, You Should Be There. According to ScreenRant, Moriah played the role of Brittany, a rebellious teenager. Moriah’s role in You Should Be There seems like a case of art imitating life.

Moriah was directed in her acting role by religious filmmaker William Willer (via Screenrant). But Moriah’s acting is not her only talent. As fans of the TLC reality series are aware, Moriah is a talented singer. She was once the lead singer in the Plath family band, which was featured in the 2016 documentary Family, Unity, Harmony, also directed by Willer. Since the director of Moriah’s feature film and the Plath’s documentary are the same, perhaps Kim and Barry Plath approve of their daughter acting, as long as it benefits the family.

We are happy to see Moriah and her brother Micah Plath living on their own on Season 2 of Welcome to Plathville, which they talk about in a teaser video. We are pretty sure all of Plathville’s fans are rooting for Moriah and Micah in their new life and hoping that Moriah finds success in whatever career path she chooses.
