The Larkins will soon be premiering on ITV, once again telling the classic take last shown on screens in The Darling Buds of May. When the original series first aired, the show was an immediate hit. In the years following the show, many of the stars have gone on to very different things.

Where are the original Darling Buds of May cast now?

First airing between 1991 and 1993, The Darling Buds of May was a comedy-drama that followed the life of the Larkin family in Kent.

Loved for its slice of life storytelling and endearing characters, the stars of the original show became household names.

Yet, it has been 20 years since the show was on screens and many of the original stars have gone on to bigger projects.

The remake, simply titled The Larkins will drop on ITV on October 10, with a new generation of stars bringing the HE Bates tale to life.

Express.co.uk has all the information on where the 1990s main cast is now.

Pop Larkin – David Jason

David Jason, best known for starring in Only Fools and Horses as Derek ‘Del Boy’ Trotter, played Pop Larkin in the 90s comedy.

Following his appearance in the series, he would go on to star as DI Frost in A Touch of Frost which ran from 1992 to 2010.

Today, Jason is still working, wrapping up the final series of Still Open All Ours in 2019.

Lately, he has been working as a voice actor, voicing various characters in Pip Ahoy! from 2014 to 2020.

Ma Larkin – Pam Ferris

Ma Larkin was played by none other than Pam Ferris, a star that has gone on to appear in some big blockbusters since the show.

In the intervening years, Ferris has starred in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Children of Men, and Nativity.

Her latest series was Call the Midwife, where she played Sister Evangelina between 2012 and 2016.

Ferris is still appearing in major projects, as she could be seen in 2018’s Holmes & Watson and 2019’s Tolkien.

Mariette Larkin – Catherine Zeta-Jones

Arguably now the biggest star of the original series, Catherine Zeta-Jones has gone on to be a mega-star since her appearance in the show.

Some of the films she appeared in after the show include Chicago, Ocean’s Twelve, Rock of Ages, and RED 2.

Now Zeta-Jones primarily stars in TV again, leading shows such as Queen America, Prodigal Son, and the upcoming Wednesday.

Wednesday is an upcoming animated Netflix series focusing on Wednesday Addams from the iconic Addams family – Zeta-Jones will be voicing Morticia Addams.

Edith Pilchester – Rachel Bell

Rachel Bell rounds out the main cast of the original series, and much like her old co-stars, she is still acting to this day.

In fact, Bell can still be seen in Doctors, where she is playing the role of Eve Haskey.

Some other relatively recent series include Strike, Millie Inbetween, and Birds of a Feather.

The Larkins premieres on Sunday, October 10 on ITV.
