The Walking Dead plot twist in the works as The Whisperers make way for new group The Commonwealth
THE Walking Dead has a potential plot twist in the works as The Whisperers could make way for a new group called the Commonwealth.
Fans of the post-apocalyptic horror series have been desperate to know who made the mysterious call on the radio in the final moments of series nine.
With series 10 a matter of weeks away, viewers are speculating the caller could by someone from the Commonwealth.
In The Walking Dead comics, the Commonwealth is introduced when Eugene gets a call from a woman on his newly-crafted radio.
This then leads Rick and the others to a huge community, the scale of which is like nothing they have ever seen.
But speaking to TVLine about the upcoming 10th season, showrunner Angela Kang remained vague about a Commonwealth narrative.
She teased: "That is an important story from the comic and we like to service story from the comic."
She added that there "will be answers" regarding the mystery person on the radio, saying: "We definitely deal with it and it's not going to be all season."
Meanwhile, Samantha Morton – who plays Alpha – revealed what viewers can expect from her character and the Whisperers, a mysterious group of hostile survivors who disguise themselves as the undead .
She said: "I’m so excited about what’s in store for Season 10. We’ve got absolutely loads of surprises.
“Angela and her team of writers have done an incredible job. I mean, absolutely mind-blowing.
"I was in tears when I was reading the script. So proud to be part of this show.
"Shivers, shivers. You’re going to love it.”
Series 10 of The Walking Dead is scheduled to start in the UK on Monday, October 7 on Fox UK.
