Vikings fans have been waiting over a year for part two of Vikings to drop on Amazon Prime and the History network. Usually, the series is simulcast but things will be a little different this year. has everything you need to know.

How many episodes will there be in Vikings season 6, part 2?

Vikings on History and Amazon Prime premiered in 2013 and is sadly coming to an end after six seasons.

Fans have been waiting over a year for the final instalment of Vikings to drop and thankfully, a release date has finally been announced.

The new series of Vikings will premiere on Wednesday, December 30.

There are just 10 episodes remaining in the epic historical drama Vikings.

However, things will look a little different for the show’s final outing.

For the first time in the show’s history, Vikings will air first on Amazon Prime in the US, UK, Germany, Austria and Ireland.

Vikings fans will be ecstatic to hear all 10 episodes will drop in one go on Amazon Prime Video, which means they can binge-watch the final series in one go.

The series will then air on the History Channel at a later date. will update this article when more information is available.

In a statement after the format change was announced, creator Michael Hirst said: “Our monumental Vikings saga is coming to its conclusion, but not before you’ve had to chance to watch some of my all-time favourite episodes.

“Prime Video will uniquely expose the series finale to a streaming audience first. Prepare to be astonished, and for many surprises along the way.

“And if you have tears to shed, then also be prepared to shed them.”

Fans have taken to Twitter to share their excitement for the next 10 episodes.

One fan tweeted: “Best news of the week is Vikings season 6 part 2 is available to watch from December 30th!”

A second fan said: “VIKINGS SEASON 6 PART 2??? I AM CRYING.”

What will happen in Vikings season 6, part 2?

Vikings season six, part two will pick up from the huge cliffhanger of part one after Kattegat and the Rus Vikings went head to head.

At the end of part one, Bjorn Ironside (played by Alexander Ludwig) was stabbed by his brother Alexander Ludwig (Alex Hogh Andersen).

A trailer released earlier this year revealed Bjorn Ironside was still alive but gravely injured.

Show creator Michael Hirst also confirmed Ferdia Walsh Peelo will reprise his role as King Alfred, suggesting there is the possibility the Vikings could venture to Wessex.

Until now, very little details about the plot of Vikings have revealed.

Thankfully, a trailer for the new series has been dropped which you can watch now.

King Harald is also seen alive, comforting Bjorn.

Ivar the Boneless is seen saying: “When they dig up my bones. I want them to say ‘Here is the most famous Viking who ever lived’.

The trailer also sees Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith) arrive in the Golden Land.

The trailer also features appearances from Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick).

The gripping trailer ends with the words “Legends fall. Heroes rise. Valhalla awaits.”
