Yellowstone airs on Paramount Network and the series follows the Dutton family on the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. Fans are keen to find out more about one of the characters, Wade Morrow, as they have their suspicions about his past. Express.co.uk has everything you need to know about the actor who plays Wade Morrow in the series.

Who plays Wade Morrow on Yellowstone?

Wade Morrow is one of the more mysterious characters in Yellowstone as fans are yet to find out about his history.

He is one of John Dutton’s (played by Kevin Costner) neighbouring ranchers and he was known to have had a feud with Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) over cattle.

They may have had their fair share of rows in the past, but Wade is a well-known acquaintance of John and fans are curious to know how deep their relationship goes.

Some fans have gone as far as to suggest Wade is actually Jamie Dutton’s (Wes Bentley) biological father, and they are waiting to see if season four reveals more information.

Wade’s character first appeared in season three, episode five of Yellowstone, and he is played by actor Boots Southerland.

Southerland is believed to be 70 years old and he was 57 when he starred in his first feature film – No Country For Old Men.

One of his first-ever projects was the TV miniseries Lonesome Dove, in 1989, in which he played a sergeant.

He has become well-known for his Western roles, having starred in Lucky Luke, The Young Riders, The Lazarus Man and Walker, Texas Ranger.

Southerland’s more recent credits include Prime Video’s Preacher, and he has just finished filming another thriller about a family ranch, called The Dead Of Night, which is due to be released in 2021.

Some fans may know the star as Marlin Southerland, as he adopted the name ‘Boots’ later on in life.

Not much else is known about the actor but he seems to have an active profile on Facebook, which says he lives in New Mexico.

He has posted a number of photos of himself on different film sets, and one fan said: “I really enjoyed your part on Yellowstone, good acting.”

Southerland has a huge fanbase online and many of his friends have praised him for his work on Twitter. One said: “Just watched my friend #BootsSoutherland get killed by #JavierBardem in #NoCountryForOldMen. Nice death scene #Boots!”

But what fans are most excited for is the ultimate showdown between Wade Morrow and John Dutton’s family in season four of Yellowstone.

One fan said on Twitter: “Wade muthaf** Morrow is a dead man… that’s all I can say.”

Another fan added: “Still intrigued by the Wade Morrow thing…that’s a serious fight waiting to happen.”

Fans know how ruthless Wade can be after he set some horses loose on Colby (Denim Richards) and Teeter (Jen Landon), leaving them both severely injured.

Some viewers think there will definitely be more rivalry between the two families in season four, with one saying on Reddit: “We know Wade Morrow worked for John and that didn’t end well.

“So in Season three we see Wade antagonize John and his cowboys by pulling stupid s***, but did he really think that what he did to Colby and Teeter was going to go unanswered?

“He had the brand, he knew how it worked and still didn’t prepare. Was he cocky or just plain stupid?”

The Yellowstone cast talked fans through one of the Yellowstone episodes for Paramount Network, and actor Hauser said: “Wade is obviously an old friend or an old worker I should say, of Yellowstone.”

Forrie J Smith, who plays Lloyd Pierce, added: “Wade left this, so he is a traitor. He should have stayed gone. You don’t tread on somebody and turn on him and then come back, and that’s what he does.

“He comes back and he goes to work for our enemies, and rubs it in John Dutton’s face.”

Wade continues to give the opposing side background information on John Dutton, and he starts to act as intel for them.

Fans will be waiting to see whether Wade was involved in the attacks on the Dutton family at the end of season three.
